Consultant Public Realm and Placemaking Specialist
Ludwig was Invited as a proven specialist to assist this leisure and resort design firm with a suite of recently secured urban and master planning projects. He brought technical rigor and new ideas to the thematic development the Timeline Garden in the Zayed National Museum, Abu Dhabi, that celebrated the life of the Kingdom’s founding ruler, working Fosters and Partners and The British Museum. Also, with the Centre for Middle Eastern Plants (CMEP) at the Botanic Garden Edinburgh he developed an Arabian Peninsula native planting list to be proven by plant growth trials.
For the New Caspian City Masterplan, Dagestan Ludwig developed a ‘Manifesto for a Socially Sustainable City’, where he applied ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’ to assess how measures embedded in the poly-centric city approach could address youth radicalisation. He also developed a ‘Sustainable Conception’ program for the delicate site on the shores of the Caspian Sea where natural water treatment processes were used to provide fresh water and topsoil and create a land-art arrival spine and feature to be developed around.
