Ludwig was contracted to The Future Laboratory, London (on behalf of QIC) undertaking design review workshops reviewing various consultant proposals.

Scope

Ludwig was contracted by The Future Laboratory, London (on behalf of Queensland Investment Corporation) to assist in defining the key attributes of the 21st century shopping mall.

Project Bio

Ludwig provided advice that was linked to the aims of the transit-oriented development, the North West Rail Link under construction that connects the site to the CBD, to ensure the advice could be easily understood and applied. Several workshops were devoted to understanding what the ideal 21st Century shopping mall format would be and how it would differ from existing 20th century typologies. Many of the findings supported The Futrure Laboratories activation proposals within the development. Findings as related to how the existing development could be amended to improve pedestrian comfort and perceptions of safety at the developments periphery were key as they highlighted issues common to shopping malls globally.
