ABOUT
LUDWIG TEWKSBURY
Ludwig is a chartered landscape architect and master of urban development and design with 20 years experience specialising in public, semi-public and private place design, and delivery. He has extensive experience in shaping and re-shaping new and existing public spaces, improving functionality and unlocking potential to deliver innovative placemaking opportunities that further support improved pedestrian experiences, commercial and retail performance, biodiversity outcomes and long-term maintainability.
A regular design review panel member, he has provided design review services for urban renewal projects in the heart of Moscow, UK local authorities, the Design Council CABE across London and the UK, Urban Design London, Queensland Investment Corporation, and the Cross River Rail project in Brisbane, Australia.

AWARD-WINNING PROJECTS
Ludwig is best known for leading the design and delivery of iconic placemaking projects for The Crown Estate partnering with the City of Westminster. These projects include the elegant ‘Boulevard of Trees’ off Piccadilly Circus and several other innovative landscape animation and activation projects that transformed the way Londoners and visitors enjoy the historic heart of London.
This experience built upon award winning central London place shaping public realm projects Ludwig worked on with Atkins (now SNC Lavalin Atkins). These include integrated security at Whitehall following the 2005 London terrorist attacks, the Oxford Circus diagonal crossing and the urban integration of the Crossrail project at Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street, to name a few. High profile opportunities flowed from his career defining vision for the Clerkenwell area of London, the ‘Clerkenwell Village Renaissance’ project which received a Royal Landscape Institute Award in 2008.

BRINGING PLACES TO LIFE
LANDSCAPE DESIGN AND MASTER PLANNING
Ludwig has extensive project experience with large scale private landscape design and master planning. Consulting to WATG he had a leading role co-ordinating a multi-disciplinary team for the landscape design of the Zayed National Museum, Abu Dhabi and he developed a manifesto for a socially sustainable city masterplan for New Caspian City, Dagestan.
Prior to this Ludwig also contributed to landscape masterplans for several high profile international projects including the Durrat Al Bahrain collection of resort islands in Bahrain, the Asian Beach Games 2010 in Oman and White City Baku, Azerbaijan.
OPERATIONS
Tewksbury Design operates out of the UK and Australia and Ludwig has travelled extensively for international projects.
